The Classic Ride

On Sunday 23 May I intend to ride the Classic route of the Heart of the Wolds Cycle Sportive which Adam Hardy and I organised between 2013 and 2018. Although organising it, I don’t recall having ever ridden it in its entirety, and thought that now would be a good opportunity to do so. Please feel free to join me.

Meet at 0845 in Kirkburn* (see photo and map) for a 0900 start.

I would like to have a short introduction and then get going.

*With Driffield Showground not available, there is limited parking around Driffield. Nearby Kirkburn (just off the A614) is also on the route and you can park just off the road at the Meeting Point or on the road by the church.

The Route

The route is just under 100km (around 60miles) and features 841m of climbing. It takes riders through some attractive countryside north of Driffield in the Wolds.

You can download a GPX of the route at Classic Route by following this link to Map My Ride

The Ride

Like a sportive, this ride is not a race. I will certainly be pacing myself and hope that the group can stay together.

Please try and adhere to any Covid regulations that are in place on 23 May.

I hope to be able to offer hot/cold drinks, water and snacks at Thixendale, around two thirds of the way around the route (roughly around 2hr 30mins into the ride).

In the event of inclement weather we may have to either shorten or abandon the route, but these are obviously worse case scenarios.

It would be useful if you could let me know if you’d like to join us. ( / 07985 311096).
