360 Cycling Tour of El Penedès

Sunday 21 August - Friday 26 August

We’ve been living at Casa Magica, in the heart of the Penedès wine making region, for nearly a year now, and have been really impressed with what it has to offer. I’m keen to share these experiences, and have come up with the following no frills, informal, cycling package for friends and colleagues.

It’s 4 days of reasonably challenging road cycling in a small group (max 6) with some cultural experiences thrown in.

Your base for this will be the relaxing setting of Casa Magica which benefits from a 12 metre swimming pool, quiet countryside location, and large grounds to relax in.

As we’re keen to just try out this format, I’ve tried to keep costs down to a minimum. The cost will be 550 Euros for 5 nights at Casa Magica, with all food included (this also includes a couple of trips to local restaurants).

Price: 550 Euros (475 Euros WITHOUT Airport transfer)

The Package

  • 5 nights in shared room* in Casa Magica. (Extra nights available for 40 Euros per night)
  • All food, including several outings to local restaurants
  • Visit and guided tour to a local winery
  • Wine and beer tasting experiences at Casa Magica
  • Guide rider on each ride
  • Additional transport to the above places
  • Transfer to and from Barcelona El Prat airport (around 1 hour by car)

*Bedroom 1 = Double Bed
Bedroom 2 = 2 x Single Beds or Double Bed
Bedroom 3 = 2 x Single Beds

  • Drinks when out and about.
  • Additional drinks at Casa Magica
  • Your insurance

The Rides

·         A good level of cycling fitness is required. Average speed of the ride is likely to be between 14 and 16mph. The group will stay together. But those reaching the tops of climbs first are welcome to loop back down to support those still on their way up.

·         The rides will be similar to a club ride. There will be a guide rider, but GPX files and briefing will also be provided in advance. There will be no support vehicle, and we recommend you pack your normal breakdown kit for each ride.

Cycling in El Penedes

The hills and valleys of El Penedes make perfect cycling territory, with challenging climbs and fun descents, all within beautiful countryside.

El Penedes is a well known DO (Denominación de Origen ) wine growing region in central Catalunya, not to mention it also being the hub of Spain's Cava industry, part of which we will see in our visit to Cordoniu, one of the best known makers of Cava.
